3 Men from Occupy Portland Arrested with Homemade Grenades

This is why police wear riot gear when they clear occupy camps. A trio of Portland Occupiers were pulled over for speeding but police smelled marijuana and searched the car at which point they made another discovery:

Inside the car, the deputy also found a number of firecrackers and two commercially made mortars inside glass canning jars, designed to be fired into the area during professional pyrotechnic displays. One was found in the floorboard of the vehicle, and the other was allegedly in Luff’s jacket.

The deputy also found two gas masks, protective eye goggles and a safety helmet. All three men told the deputy that they had spent the night at the Occupy Portland demonstration, and they brought the mortars and safety equipment to the demonstration in preparation of the expected confrontation between police and protesters Sunday morning.

  1. OooooooOOOOooOOOo how scary!

Richard do you know what those so-called exposives are? Those are small mortar shell, sort of rockets that you can buy from firework stands. Yea, you could get injured and maybe even blinded if one exploded a few inches from you.

This is hardly a terrorist device. These are stupid kids who probably saw all the police brutality on T.V. and decided that if the bad cops decided to attack, they would retaliate with these puny firework devices.

I’m surprised that with all the coverage of police brutality without provacation, that we don’t see more violent protests. Right or wrong, when the police start acting as thugs, the people may or will react.

Have You ever played with these Mortars, That shoot 100’s of feet in the air if projected out of a tube, Depending on Diameter which these appear to be about 2- 3inches.

This size here can blow your Arm Off if they are of the concussion type, Or burn You to death if they are the aerial Spray type.

But these Kids went for maximum damage by putting it in a Thick glass Ball jar. That would of sent shrapnel flying at Hundreds of Miles an Hour.

Frank, It’s Obvious You have No Idea what Your talking about.

These Fireworks are Illegal, and are stronger than the classic M-80 or 1/4 sticks.

    OooooooOOOOooOOOo how scary!

  3. These are not 2″-3″ mortar shells and these were kids who did a stupid thing. Thick glass ball shell? Fuck Richard it’s only a mason jar. What do you want to do with these teenagers throw them in at Guantanamo Prison?

Please don’t tell the Carpentersville Police, but I and my neighbors have launched the large variety of mortar shells and noboby got hurt. You either don’t know what you’re talking about or you’re demonizing for the sake of demonizing. Please leave the demonizing to your Republican candidate Bachman as she’s has been commanded by GOD to run for President.

Frank, that’s a standard 5″ diameter Ball canning Jar. Use that as Your scale. You know how to read a print and scales drawings don’t You?

Stop exaggerating the insignificance of what this could of done.

  5. I have extensive knowledge on reading prints Richard, but try comparing the diameter of that canning jar with one of your appendages and you’ll see it’s much smaller in diameter.

  6. Your Funny Frank, AS I also have extensive knowledge of Interpreting and creating Prints through My many Years at working at Engineering Companies, But Your comical analogy is entertaining.
